A Pole Shift is a perfectly natural and normal cycle of the Earth in regard to the position of the Earth’s crust and the axis (poles).

  The living gyroscope
The Crust of the Earth is detached from the outer core and inner core of the Earth by several layers of high temperature, molten metal, primarily iron which as it rotates produces powerful electromagnetic fields.

The crust while acting primarily as a natural insulation and protection for the inner layers of the planet also reacts with this super hot flow in the movement of heat and electro-magnetic field patterns within the crust and deep water ocean currents.

The suns electromagnetic fields react with the surface of the earth and the surface ocean currents. The combination of internal and external fields and forces stabilizes the position of the crust relative to the inner cores of the Earth and affects the Crust rotation speed- remembering the inner cores of the Earth have their own rotation speeds.

Overtime however, the effect of these powerful forces and currents which are stronger in field lines than simply being spread evenly across an uneven surface is that the crust of the Earth itself starts to degrade. If the same static position is maintained for an extended period of time, the cumulative effect of powerful external and internal electromagnetic fields can lead to fissures in the crust.

So in order to maintain the optimum health of its insulation shell, the Earth needs to rotate the crust slightly ever short while (thousands of years). And every few hundreds of thousands of years a large crust field adjustment is needed in order for the fields of the Earth to regenerate (Pole reversal).

Science catching up to the idea of a living earth
In many respects the science of understanding the Earth is yet to catch up to the philosophical idea of a living earth. Just as a human being needs sleep, just as a farmer rests a field, so too the Earth needs to protect its crust from catastrophic fatigue.

It is not a process designed for destruction, nor even for the extinction of life on the surface of the crust. From all theoretical models, pole shifts occur relative quickly with an accelerated build up a change and then a long period of stability.

The process is almost entirely designed to minimize the risk of catastrophe, not to make it happen. While a process of pole shift has not yet been made in terms of timeframes, it appears likely that the process occurs over a period of less than six to eight years before the Earth stabilizes its crust into a new position for thousands of years- an incredible short period considering cycles such as the Precession of Equinoxes over 25,700 years.

The signs of a Pole Shift not simply human intervention
The signs of climate change happening at an accelerated rate around the world at the present moment points strongly to a Pole Shift, not simply human intervention.
The melting of the ice caps is a deliberate mechanism within the Earth cycle- a prelude to when the currents of the Earth will stop and allow the Crust to shift position before they start up again and allow ice to increase during a forced mini-ice age thanks to the oceans releasing CO2.
The Impact of this needs to be put into context. Far from the end of the world, a Pole Shift spells new possibilities and exciting climate changes, not seen for thousands of years. Deserts can once again bloom, while areas trapped under years of ice are brought back to life.
